From February 28 to March 3, 2017, a working team of the Foreign Affairs Subministry Department of Bavarian State Government visited Jinan, Qingdao and Weifang. On the morning of March 3, a work meeting was held in Jinan to discuss the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the sister province/state relationship between the two sides.

From February 19 to 26, 2017, Qian Huantao, Director of Shandong Economic and Information Technology Committee visited Germany and Switzerland. During the visit in Germany, the delegation visited the State Government of Lower Saxony, had a meeting with the Minister of the Ministry of Economy, hosted Shandong- Lower Saxony Enterprise Matchmaking Seminar and visited some renowned German companies.

From July 9 to 16, 2016, a delegation led by governor Guo Shuqing visited Israel and Germany. The delegation had an extensive contact with the two governments as well as economists, educators and personages from the scientific and technological community, which further promoted practical cooperations in the fields of sister relationship, economy and trade, agriculture, medical treatment and elderly care.

On July 22, 2015, a work conference was held between Shandong and Bavaria. Six cooperation intents were signed at the meeting. Xia Geng , vice Governor of Shandong Province and deputy Minister-President of Bavaria attended the meeting and witnessed the signing of the intents.

From June 23 to July 1, 2014, a delegation of the provincial government and economic and trade headed by vice Governor Xia Geng visited Germany, Romania and Poland. In Bavaria, an in-depth discussion was held on the direction, emphasis and field of the further cooperation.

From June 2 to 11, 2013, vice Governor Sun Shaocheng visited Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. During the visit in Germany, Sun held a meeting with Minister of the Ministry of State Affairs of Bavaria, discussing cooperations in the areas of urbanization construction, personnel training, expert exchange and social security.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the sister province/state between Shandong and Bavaria, a delegation led by Secretary of the Ministry of State Affairs of Bavaria visited Shandong. Xia Geng, vice Governor of Shandong Province met the delegation in Shandong Hotel.

From April 30 to May 3, 2011, Speaker of the State Parliament made a visit to Shandong. Jiang Yikang, Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee met the delegation.

The Shandong-Bavaria Sister Province/State Work Conference was held in Qingdao on April 29, 2010. Jiang Daming, deputy Secretary of CPC Provincial Committee and Governor of Shandong Province, and the Minister-President of Bavaria were presented.

A 19-person delegation led by the Deputy Minister-President and Minister of the Ministry of Economy of Bavaria visited Jinan and Qingdao from April 21 to 23, 2009. Vice Governor Cai Limin and Chairman Sun Dehan of Qingdao Municipal Committee of CPPCC met the German guests in Jinan and Qingdao respectively.

The Fourth Sister Province/State Leaders Meeting was held in Jinan from August 5 to 7, 2008. 114 person attended the meeting including Jiang Daming, Governor of Shandong Province and Minister of the Ministry of Bavarian Federal and EU Affairs.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the friendly relations between Shandong and Bavaria, a delegation led by Wang Renyuan, a member of the Standing Committee of CPC Provincial Committee and the executive vice Governor of Shandong Province visited the State of Bavaria from July 8 to 13, 2007. A work meeting and a dozen of events were held such as Shandong-Bavaria Economic and Trade Fair.

From August 1 to 3, 2006, a delegation headed by the Secretary of Bavarian Ministry of the Interior visited Shandong province. The delegation had a work meeting with Shandong’s public security department and construction department respectively.

On April 20, 2005, vice Governor Sun Shoupu met a Bavarian investigation delegation of senior civil servants in Jinan. The delegation was composed of senior officials from Bavarian ministries including finance, justice, public security, education, construction, environmental protection and health.

Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and Art of Bavaria visited Jinan and Qingdao from November 3 to 6, 2004. He also attended the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of German Department in Qingdao University.

Schnappauf, Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Consumer Protection of Bavaria visited Jinan on June 30, 2004. He had talks with the provincial health and environmental protection authorities. A cooperation agreement was signed.

From September 8 to 19, 2003, a delegation led by deputy Director-general of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress Wang Daoyu made an visit to Germany and Netherlands. During the visit in Germany, the delegation exchanged views with its Bavarian counterparts on the cooperation in such fields as vocational education, higher education as well as culture and art.

From July 23 to August 4, 2002, a 7-person delegation headed by Wang Weitian, deputy Director-general of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress visited Netherlands and Germany. The delegation made an official visit to the State Parliament, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. They also attended the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany as well as the 15th anniversary of the friendly relations between Shandong and Bavaria.

A delegation of urban construction headed by vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior of Bavaria visited Shandong from April 20 to 25, 2001. During the visit, an agreement was signed to promote the further cooperation in urban construction between the two sides.

From October 15 to 28, 2000, a delegation consisting of 21 government officials led by Li Chunting, deputy Secretary and Governor of Shandong Province, conducted an official friendly visit and a tour survey of economy in North Holland and Bavaria.

From April 15 to 22, 2000, a delegation led by Speaker of the State Parliament of Bavaria visited Shandong. It marked the first formal friendly visit of Bavarian State Parliament to Shandong.

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology of Bavaria visited Jinan and Qingdao on March 20,1999. A meeting was held to discuss the cooperation in airport expansion in the two cities.

From March 27 to April 1, 1998, vice Governor of Shandong province Song Fatang visited Bavaria at the invitation of the Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. The delegation attended the fourth meeting of Shandong-Bavaria-Singapore Cooperation Committee. During the visit, a press conference was held to promote Shandong’s economy. And an initial intent of cooperation was reached in terms of the joint construction of airports in Jinan and Qingdao.

From October 1 to 4, 1997, at the invitation of the province, Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology of Bavaria visited Shandong. The Minister and vice Governor of Shandong Song Fatang attended the inauguration of Bavarian Economic Representative Office in Jinan and the opening ceremonies of Bavarian Book Fair and Shandong-Bavaria Railway Technology Seminar.

From July 23 to August 3, 1997, a delegation led by vice Governor of Shandong Chen Kangfu visited Bavaria at the invitation of the Secretary of Ministry of the Interior. The delegation, consisting of construction and land administration personnel, had an in-depth discussion on the cooperation in urban construction.

At the invitation of the Department of Environmental Protection of Shandong Province, the vice Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Consumer Protection of Bavaria visited Shandong from October 28 to November 3, 1996. The delegation also visited and made an investigation in Jinan, Tai’an, Linyi and Qufu. The two parties had a discussion on the cooperation in environmental protection.

From September 9 to 14, 1996, at the invitation of the Minister-President of Bavaria, Shandong Governor Li Chunting visited Bavaria. A 120 million dollar worth of agreements concerning a dozen of cooperation projects was signed in electronics, machinery, automobile manufacturing, medicine and chemical industry.

In the late June of 1995, a delegation led by vice governor of Shandong Province Zhang Ruifeng visited Germany. The delegation, consisting of urban construction and environmental protection personnel, officially signed the Agreement of Urban Construction and Communication with Bavaria.

In April 1995, a political and economic delegation consisting of 56 members and headed by the Minister-President of Bavaria visited Shandong. Governor Li Chunting held a meeting with his German counterpart in Jinan. At the meeting, a summary was signed aiming to further develop and deepen the partnership between the two sides.

In October 1994, to promote the Shandong Economic and Trade Exhibition held in Munich, an economic delegation led by Song Fatang, vice Governor of Shandong Province visited Bavaria and attended the first meeting of Shandong-Bavaria-Singapore Cooperation Committee.

From the late March to the early April of 1994, a Bavarian delegation including 36 personnel visited Jinan and Qingdao. The delegation, headed by Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Transportation of Bavaria, met with the provincial leaders of Shandong. A meeting was held to promote the further cooperation between the two sides in economy and technology.

In March 1994, business director of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and Art of Bavaria visited Shandong and attended the first meeting of Shandong-Bavaria Education Cooperation Committee.

In November 1993, Miao Fenglin, deputy Director-general of Shandong Provincial People's Congress and president of Shandong University visited Bavaria, where the Shandong Province and the State of Bavaria Education Project Cooperation Agreement was signed.

From the late September to the early October of 1993, a delegation headed by the vice Minister-President and Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and Art of Bavaria visited Shandong province. A meeting was held in the discussion of cooperation in the fields of education, culture, science and art.

In September 1992, Li Wenquan, Director-general of the Organization Department of Shandong Province led a delegation to Germany for talent recruitment. A meeting was held between the two parties in Bavaria to discuss the talent introduction.

In July 1991, a delegation headed by Governor of Shandong Province Zhao Zhihao visited Bavaria and attended the opening ceremony of the Second Shandong Economic and Trade Exhibition held in Munich. Governor Zhao Zhihao also held a meeting with his German counterpart discussing the cooperation and communication between the two sides.

In February 1988, Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Transportation of Bavaria visited Shandong and attended the Small-scale Import and Export Commodities Fair held in Qingdao.

In July 1987, a delegation led by Ma Shizhong, vice Governor of Shandong Province visited Bavaria and signed a joint declaration with the Minister-President of Bavaria, announcing the establishment of a sister province/state relationship between Shandong and Bavaria.

High-level Exchange

Since Shandong and Bavaria became sister province/state, the two sides have witnessed frequent high-level visits and personnel exchanges.
They have cooperated in numerous projects and realized fruitful achievements in many aspects.
