The fifth Sino-Germany Symposium on Urbanization was held recently in Jinan, capital of east China’s Shandong province.
With the theme of urban and rural integration, the symposium attracted around 150 people from China and Germany. Eight representatives from Chinese and German legislative institutions, local governments, research institutes and think tanks had a thorough discussion on key problems emerging in the process of urbanization including the development of middle and small-sized cities, urban village renovation, rural population transfer, rural and urban infrastructure construction.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the friendly relations between Shandong province and Bavaria. Exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have been carried out in a host of fields such as economy and trade, humanity, science and technology, education, construction of urbanization, land resources planning and sports. As of July, 2017, a total of 795 German enterprises have invested in Shandong province.
The Sino-Germany Symposium on Urbanization is a key measure for the building of the partnership in urbanization and has been held successfully in Xuzhou, Shenyang, Baotou and Chengdu.
